This nice event, once again organized by Helsinki's Runner's high running school came just one week after my Beachy head marathon, so luckily the atmosphere was more of a 'fun and relaxed run' (as the name might imply as well..) rather than of a competitive race. Luckily, it was a sunny day , though still very cold and chilly (approximately 2 degrees) which of course makes it much more difficult , especially in my case:)

Anyway, i arrived to Talin Urheilupuisto quite early on my bike (as usual) and already liked the really peaceful and green surroundings. It was so nice to see so many people wearing costumes, like Batman, Frankenstein and many more....it was really nice to see the good and cheerful spirit people came with which made the event so unique and special unlike other running events i've been too. Personally, i think this was the highlight of the whole event.

Batman

As i went to change my clothes , i realized as usual, i forgot to take the HR sensor and only took the strap...:) oh well....

It was the first time for me running a race in such a low temperature...soon after the run started i realized that i made my typical mistake and started too fast...it was too late to slow down so i just tried to maintain the speed... Unfortunately, after 3-4K i was already so exhausted and felt i could not go any longer....the inner voice in my head tried to make me stop which made it so hard since obviously i was still weak from the Beachy marathon and was not able to keep up with the rest of the runners..(at least it seemed so) . I liked that part of the route goes through the Munkkiniemi beach line that i like so much so it was so nice to run in a familiar environment.

It was especially hard towards the last 3K when my speed was the slowest and i just felt i could not go any longer....Moreover, due to the cold temperatures, it was difficult to breath so the feeling during the run was quite bad...

Luckily, after 9.5KM i already saw the finish line...i was so happy at that moment and just wished to cross it as soon as possible..

My time was 45:41 (5th position among the women), which is not good but also not too bad so i was happy with that :)

Took some recovery drink, rested for a while, and the cycled happily home. To summarise, i cannot say i enjoyed this run although the route was so beautiful that day and almost flat the whole time, however, it was a nice event to end this wonderful running season so of course i'm glad i got to be part of it. Also, once again i realized how much i enjoy more long distance scenic runs like the Swissalpine and the Beachy marathon rather than 5-10K runs which i mainly do just to improve my speed...

Finally, as it was a sunny day, as soon as i came home i quickly ate and went for a short bike ride to enjoy the last rays of sunlight....
